Vonni Vay Hiss Davies, age 72, was finally able to get her wish of a beautiful reunion with her dearly departed sweetheart, Dennis Davies.  This joyous reunion took place on Friday, October 21, 2022.  Her four children, Brennon (Melinda) Davies, Dondia Davies, Daci Davies, and Jenica (Aaron) Ballard were not ready to see her go, but are happy that this reunion has taken place on her behalf. She has also left behind 8 adoring grandchildren, and 6 loving siblings who will miss her tremendously.

She loved serving God and others, and spending time with her family while her health allowed.  She spent her life creating magic through various art forms: drawing, writing, singing, various musical instruments, and dancing. Dancing was a special joy to her and now, freed from the confines of a deteriorating body, she is once again able to do what she loves most. She always said that she would dance again when she got to Heaven. We love you Mom! Dance to your heart’s content with Dad.

Condolences

  • My heart is so sad to see this, but so happy for her reunion with Dennis! I loved sitting with Vonni at church where we froze together often ha. She was a gentle, giving friend.
    My love to you all.

  • Vonni is such a special Lady! Her passing surprises me but I am happy for her and Dennis. I can almost hear “Well done, our faithful Daughter!” as she has move onward to live and continue to love and inspire! May her Children and descendants be blessed with the Comfort, Love, and Peace of our Creator!

  • My heart breaks for the whole family, she was one of those rare genuinely good people in this world. It is a huge loss but the only comfort is that she is back together with her husband. Their love was a truly beautiful love. ❤️

Vonni Vay is a dear cousin. As we grew up through childhood and young adults, it was always a happy time when our families met together. It was just natural for us to have love for each other. As years have added up these same happy meetings had continued. Vonni Vay always welcomed me and my family into her life and family when every we had occasion to be together. We will miss her. I hope my dear Marian, who recently passed away, has had occasion to welcome Vonni Vay into the realms of heaven.

I am Vonni’s cousin. I have great memories of visiting her and her family when we would be on vacation in Utah. Vonni was very talented in many areas . She was a wonderful person. We both played in the Tooele Band together in high school. I know that she was very loved by all of her family members. She will missed by many. But I am sure she will be happy to be with her husband and other loved ones in the spirit world.

I knew Vonni back in Tooele. We were both in the band, and went on that 1967 trip to march in the Rose Bowl. I had a huge crush on Vonni and I think it was returned. We spent a lot of time, either with her family or my family. One of the things we liked to do was drive, with several of our friends, up to an abandoned apple orchard after church on Sundays and talk about the books we’d read during the week, outside of school assignments. Vonnie always stuck to her guns and talked about The Book of Moron, Pearl of Great Price, Doctrines and Covenants, and of course, the Bible. One day she and I were hiking up Settlement Canyon before the dam went in. I saw a bull snake in the grass and grabbed it. It proved to be bigger than I thought and it soon had both of my hands locked up like hand cuffs. I turned to Vonni, asking for help, but she was running back down the road, long blonde hair streaming out behind her, and screaming her head off. I have many fond memories of Vonni and I am devastated to learn of her passing. We never communicated after my family left Tooele, but I’ve always had a very soft spot in my heart for her. Like everyone else who has written of her, I hope she is now at peace.
