Vernea Walker, born May 27, 1923, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022 in Mesa, Arizona.  She was born at St. Johns, AZ to parents Myrtle Thompson-Greer and Pratt Guy Greer, second child of two girls and four boys.  She grew up in Holbrook, AZ.  She married at 16, divorced at 27, and married to Daniel David Walker Jr. on Jan 2, 1951 in the Mesa, AZ temple.  She is the mother of four children, Susan Joan, David Rich, Daniel III, and Deborah Walker, and has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She lived in Henderson 43 years, and moved to Las Vegas in 1998.  She was active in her faith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in leadership positions, as a temple worker in the Las Vegas temple, and especially enjoyed teaching and working with the youth of the church. She was a respected member of the business community owning a chain of high end women apparel stores in Henderson, Las Vegas, and Boulder City, serving on the Henderson Nevada Chamber of Commerce and the Charleston Plaza Merchants Association.

Funeral services will be held at the Desert Rose Chapel, 567 Pacific Avenue, Henderson NV  89015, on Saturday December 10, 2022.  The viewing will begin at 10:00am and the Service will follow at 11:00am. with the graveside service to follow at 2:00pm at Bunker’s Memory Garden Cemetery.
