10/17/1945 - 02/03/2024

Roger Lorenzen, age 78, of Apache Junction, AZ formerly from Sioux Falls, SD passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease in Scottsdale, AZ on February 3, 2024.  Roger was born October 17, 1945 in Spencer, IA to Frank and Clara Mae (Radley) Lorenzen.  Roger was one of five children.  He married Joyce Noethe in 1963 and went on to have three children.  In 1976, they amicably divorced.  In 1979, after a whirlwind romance, Roger was united in marriage to the love of his life, Judy McCarty (Bulley). He was then blessed with four bonus children.  Roger was a loving husband to Judy for 45 years. They were best friends and enjoyed many good times together with family and friends.  They especially enjoyed going on their Diner and Drive-Ins road trips.  Roger is known for love of family, classic cars, coin collecting, and his “gift of gab”.  His famous “gift of gab” served him well in his adult years as a salesman for various different companies.  Roger’s memory will live on with all who have known and loved him during his lifetime.  He will be especially missed by his children:  Dean (Laren) Lorenzen of Sioux Falls, SD; Lisa Lund of Canistota, SD; Thomas Lorenzen of Mesa, AZ; Todd (Jamie) McCarty of Council Bluffs, IA; Angela (Mike) Moertl of Marne, IA; Julie (Steve) Ballou of Pennington, MN; and Patricia (Blythe) Bloemendahl of Rock Rapids, IA.  His memory will also live on with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents and all his siblings Frank and Clara (Radley) Lorenzen, David (Jackie) Lorenzen, Larry (Nova) Lorenzen, Linda (Miguel) Lorenzen and Jim (Shelly) Lorenzen.  A memorial service/celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date in Sioux Falls, SD.

Condolences

  • Claudia & Rick Behr

Our sympathy to Dean & Laren and the rest of Roger’s family.

  • Dean & Laren, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your dad, he’s in a better place now. I remember visiting with you Dean awhile back and you shared your dad’s health problems. I remember Roger buying I think like a 1953 Corvette that turned out to not be such a great buy. My being from Ruthven and my wife from Spencer I always felt a connection with your dad.

  • Dave & Rose Goeden

We were saddened to hear about the loss of your dad. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Comforting huhs and healing prayers being sent to Dean, Lauren and family.
