On January 9, 2019 a legend was taken from this earth. Randy LaMar Walker was born on August 18, 1952 in Payson, Utah to RaNae and LaMar Walker. Randy moved to Mesa, Arizona in 1965. He attended Kino Jr. High and graduated from Westwood High School in 1970. This is where he met the love of his life, Cheryl Leslie. They were married in the Mesa Temple in 1972. They spent 45 years creating a beautiful life together filled with travel, memories, and laughter.

Randy was a man of many talents, whether it was through music or photography, he loved to share his abilities with others. He was employed at Milano Music and worked there for over 40 years. During that time, he opened his own business, AVM Technologies, where he specialized in photography and took pictures for hundreds of people in the valley. Randy was an incredible drummer, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed.

Randy is survived by his mother, RaNae Etherington; stepfather, Jack Etherington; children, Jennifer Walker, Stacey (Chad) Ence, Scott Walker, Jill (Jason) Wright, and Troy Walker; and grandchildren, Colton, Mackenzie, Cannon, Cade, Kylee Ence, Nixon, Hudson, Stella, Eloise Wright, and Layla Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl; granddaughter, Madison Ence; and father, LaMar Walker.

Condolences

  • Randy,we have been neighbors and friends for decades. You and my late husband, Hank, played the drums and jammed for hours; and for the past couple of years you and I have been playing our guitars together. I will miss you, my friend. Thank you for sharing your wonderful music, your fabulous stories and beautiful photographs. May you rest in peace, with the love of your life.

  • My heart goes out to the Walker family at this time of sorrow. I know you will miss your dad terribly, but I also know that sweet memories will flood your hearts and minds and his spirit will always be near you. What a grand reunion he is having with Cheryl. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

  • My heart is broken and I am sad for your children and grandchildren! It warns my heart knowing you are with your eternal seeetheart, Cheryl who I know greeted you with open arms! I love you both so much!!! It still doesn’t seem real. ‘Till we meet again…

Closing my eyes and can see Randy’s smile, first memory that comes to my mind, then I hear Cheryl’s laugh, what great times and memories my friend, our love to you and your family. We pray for their hearts to heal at this time of loss. Randy was always positive, love him! Loved them!! Love that we were honored to be friends, it even felt like family, brother.
