Paul Russel Turley

03/21/1969 - 05/07/2021

Paul Russel Turley, 52, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 7, 2021 in Queen Creek, Arizona.  Paul lived a very active life.  He loved camping, hunting, and all things outdoors.  He enjoyed motorcycle rides with friends.  He was talented at cooking and enjoyed a good meal.  He had a knack for welding and often gave his projects away as gifts.  Paul had a big heart and was a friend to everyone.

He loved his country and was a member of the NRA.  He retired after serving 23 years with the Arizona Department of Corrections, worked for 2 years at the Pinal County Courthouse, and was currently employed by the Florence School District working in the maintenance department.  While working with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Paul was an omnipresent force that held many different positions and set the standard of excellence in all of them.  Paul was the ultimate protector of family and friends.  While he never spoke of medals, he was highly decorated and was the recipient of the Medal of Valor.

Paul was preceded in death by his father M. Ronald Turley and his mother Elena P. Turley.  Survived by children Kylie and Toren Turley, siblings Bonnie (Dave) Ducharme, LaNae (Gregg) Norton, Mark (Julie) Turley, Sandra (Eric) Myers, Melanie (Charles) Reeves.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Paul will be missed!  We love you!

Condolences

  • I’d like to send my deepest condolences to Mark and his family.

We knew Paul when he was a young man, living at home with his mother, Elena. I was their home teacher for several years, and enjoyed knowing and associating with Paul. Although we haven’t seen Paul in many years, the feelings of love we have always had for him will persist always. I felt a special connection to Elena and her family because Ron was my friend during my Senior year of High School. And Elena, dear Elena… what an example of Christ-like love! She loved her children and taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her love for Paul and for each of her children was manifest by her deeds. I love this Turley family with all my heart… each and every one of them! May the Lord’s choices blessings be with each of you. = Stephen and Carolei Phelps

Paul was a special light in some many lives. He has been my friend since I was 15 and he was 16. We went to school together, later we were roommates, he introduced me to my first husband and was our best man. We remained friends for 36 years and we both had ups and downs in our own lives and most do but we stayed the same in our views and goals. He was very loyal and always made me laugh and reminded me that tomorrow was another day. We both loved the outdoors but I was too noisy to take hunting.. lol I talked too much LOL. But we sure had fun fishing together. Sadly I recently lost both my parents, Paul was right there again offering his support, always protecting and wanting to help carry the weight. My heart is broken, but I want his family to know what a wonderful man Paul was and how everyday he got up and did it again. He loved life and his attitude was No Regrets! Mistakes, yes but never regrets! He was an amazing person with such a glowing inner light. I will always miss that part that went with him, it will never be the same, but I will never REGRET a minute of knowing him and having such a wonderful person help shape me into the person I am today. I love you Paul, Thank you for 36 years of your sharing your life.

  • A big hug from afar to the Turley family. So sorry for this temporary separation from Paul. I know Uncle Ron and tia Elena are happy to see him. Prayers for each of you.

  • Paul was one of the most amazing human beings I ever had the honor of knowing. He was larger than life, his love for country, family and friends and food was its own force. Paul I love you and can not wrap my head around your passing, I believe God needed a protector, he chose you as his warrior. As you used to say, “we didn’t get fired, we are still alive, I’m hungry”. May the Turley family especially Paul’s kids know that we are all here behind you, we all love you. God speed my brother, until we meet again.

Love to all of the Turley Siblings I love so much and have such awesome memories of during my last few HS years in Gilbert. You’ve been in my constant thoughts and prayers the past 2 weeks. I’ll share a funny memory I think of often, especially when making good ol Kraft mac n cheese for my grandsons! Someone mentioned his love for chili and everything HOT..well, he introduced me to El Pato and I’ll always remember his ‘special recipe’ of adding El Pato & sour cream to his mac n cheese (ick) he made me try it and I thought I’d never get my taste back it was so hot. But through all of his teasing, Paul was kind and LOYAL and I new he was someone that had my back. Love you LaNae, Mark, Sandra & Melanie

My sincerest condolences to the family. I worked with Paul in several years in the Department of Corrections, and I can honestly say after long reflection, “Turley” was one that had a tendency to always have a positive attitude, and a natural born teacher…that really never thought of himself that way…just doing a job…..RIP
