Nellie Grace Halliday

05/17/1934 - 01/11/2022
Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery

Our beloved wife, mother and grandma, Nellie Grace Sessions Halliday, graduated from this mortal life on January 11, 2022.  Her  full life began on May 17, 1934 in Auburn, WY, as the youngest of six children born to Nellie Virginia Steed and Delbert Sessions.  She always held a special place in her heart for Auburn where she lived until she was eight years old. Her family then moved to Ogden, UT where she spent the rest of her youth.   She met her eternal love, Ernest Robison Halliday while attending BYU, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 4, 1957.  They created and nurtured a beautiful family together that will continue throughout the eternities.

Grace worked in a variety of professions including switchboard operator, elementary school teacher, elementary reading specialist, AZ Republic newspaper route, taking pictures for an insurance company and an Avon saleslady for over 20 years.  She loved people and was interested in every detail of their lives.  She had a deep love and concern for our country and was very well informed. She was a voracious reader.  She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep testimony and love of the Book of Mormon and of Jesus Christ which she often shared with her family.  She will be fondly remembered for her love of Christmas (decorations!) and all holidays, her care packages, her affection (orange lipstick kisses), her frugality, her obsession with Fox News, her confidence, her curiosity, her love of family history and her pioneer heritage, her inviting nature, her sincere interest in the happenings of her family, the Wendy’s/temple/ Christmas sleepover, s’mores, 7Up floats, Charlie Brown and Peanuts comics, her generosity, dedication and true love and concern for each member of her family.  She will be dearly missed.

Her greatest joys were her husband, their children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband, Ernest Robison Halliday; son Bradford (Cynthia), son Spencer (Rani), daughter Jennifer (Eric Crandall), and son Michael (Amy Jo).  Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren David (Mary), Carissa, Erika (Brady), Tyler (Allyson), Emily, Kaitlyn (Corbin), Kyle, Madison (Joe), Amanda, Emma, Rydge, Hannah, Anna, Megan, Jacob, Michael, Mary Ann, and Joseph.

Grace will be laid to rest in the Bountiful City Cemetery, in Bountiful, Utah on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

  • Sister Halliday was one of the really great and memorable adults from my youth growing up in the Mesa 19th Ward. My thoughts and prayers go out to her sweet family as they mourn her loss.
