Melinda “Lindy” Hoopes, was born on May 27, 1977, in Mesa, AZ. After a fight against colon cancer, she peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on July 10, 2024.
Lindy served a spanish-speaking mission in Venezuela for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Following her mission, she dedicated the last 20 years of her career to inspiring and educating students as a Spanish teacher at Highland High School.
She is survived by her parents, Fred and Krisanne Hoopes; her siblings, James Hoopes (Beth), Leeanne Cook (Blake), Brittani Arnow (Brandon), and Melissa Fuller (Mark), and her partner, Michelle Wilson. Lindy was also a loving aunt to her 5 nephews and 8 nieces.
Lindy’s warmth, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on July 18, 2024, from 6:00-8:00pm at Bunker Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ 85201.
The funeral service will take place on July 19, 2024, at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 825 S. 32nd St, Mesa, AZ 85204. There will be a viewing prior to the funeral services from 9:00-9:45am.
A graveside service will be held on July 20, 2024 at The Graham Cemetery 3120 N. Graham Cemetery Rd. Safford, AZ, at 9:00am.
