Mary Alice Humetewa of Phoenix, Arizona passed away in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday, February 7, 2022.
Mary Alice, a member of the Pima Tribe, was born in Sacaton Arizona in 1926 to Sophie Myer and Hugh Seyu. May Alice attended the Phoenix Indian School and graduated as President of the Senior Class in 1947.
Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband Benedict Humetewa. Mary will be buried next to Benedict at the National Cemetery in Arizona.
Mary is survived by her four children, Keith, Kevin, Stephanie and Kim, 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mary was a very strong and proud woman who raised 4 children to be honest, good and kind. She will be remembered for her no-nonsense parental guidance, charity to the community, her wonderful baking, and humorous phrases. Oh Fiddlesticks, For Crying out Loud and I’ll be back subsequently will be forever in our minds. Mary Humetewa was a loving and doting grandmother, who constantly conveyed her love to all her grandchildren.
We love you Mary, we will see you subsequently.
Interment will be held at National Cemetery of Arizona.
