Louise Riggs Eastep passed away at her home on April 3, 2024, and would have been 103 years old on her next birthday.
She was born May 24, 1921, to Brigham Adelbert Riggs, Jr. and Mariam Elizabeth Chamberlain Riggs in Kanab, Utah where she later graduated from Kanab High School.
She lived a long and active life filled with family, friends, and many travel adventures with her husband, David Eastep. Louise and Dave were married in 1970 and celebrated over 53 years together.
Louise was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority for over 50 years, and she enjoyed volunteer work that included making and donating quilts and volunteering at several hospitals wherever she lived. Although Louise didn’t have children of her own, she is survived by many nieces and nephews who grew up with “Aunt Louise” in their lives. Louise was known for remembering birthdays and keeping in touch with family and friends through cards and letters.
She was proud of her pioneer heritage and her Kanab roots and will be missed by many dear friends and loved ones in Utah, Arizona, and Silver City, New Mexico.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to be announced.
