Jean J Horrocks, 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 27, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

Jean was born in Wigan, Lancashire England to George G Jamieson and May Bennett Jamieson on October 20th, 1934 and raised in Preston, England. Jean resided with her family in Preston until they emigrated to America in 1951.Shortly after arriving in America, her family settled in Salt Lake City, UT.

Jean was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She fulfilled many church callings throughout her life. Some of her favorites included working in the Young Woman’s program, serving an 18-month mission with her husband in Wales, and serving 10 plus years working in the Mesa Temple.

Jean was a devoted wife and always the perfect hostess. She was a wonderful cook, an immaculate homemaker and loved working in her yard and garden. Jean had a beautiful singing voice and a passion for dancing. Her passion for dancing started at a very young age. Performing for family on her parent’s large wooden entry table, sometimes for hours. Her passion stayed with her well into her later years and was shared with her beloved husband. People used to stop and watch them dance together as they seemingly floated across the dance floor. Jean was an elegant and beautiful woman, with a kind and caring heart.

Jean is proceeded in death by her husband, Don R Horrocks; parents, George G. and May Bennett Jamieson; brother, James D. Jamieson; sister, Laura Nichols; and grandchildren, Julie, Cassie and Darin.

Jean is survived by her children, Paul (Amy), Jan (Paul), Jim (Jana), Laura (Randy), Kristin (Larry), Kay (Ed); stepchildren, Brent (Kathy), Craig (Shannon), Lynn (Joella), Wade (Debbie), Darryl (Teri),Scott (Sally), Kevin (Lori), Sheila (Don), 64 Grandchildren; 113 Great-grandchildren; and 10 Great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on January 11th, 2020 at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N Centennial Way Mesa AZ 85201 with visitation beginning one hour prior to the services at 10:00 am. There will be a graveside dedication at the conclusion of the service to be held at Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N Center St. Mesa, AZ 85201. In Lieu of Flowers, the family would request a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).

  • I am so sorry to here about Grandma Jean. We sure loved her and grandpa. I am lucky to be able to see them both before grandpa passed away. He had so show my husband he still had it by doing push ups and grandma had to make sure I had some turtle ice cream. We miss them! But happy to know she is with her sweat heart. ❤️I know they are both dancing with each other.
