Jack G. Fugere, 76, passed away on March 29, 2023, in a Mesa, AZ hospital. He was born in Bottineau, ND, the fourth child of eight children of Leo and Doris Fugere. He graduated from Bottineau High School and attended college at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. After 3 years of college, he enlisted in the army and served in Germany for 3 years. After his discharge, he returned to UND to complete his degree in accounting. He worked as an auditor for the US Government, auditing Army bases, until his retirement in 2001. During this time, he was stationed in Germany twice for a total of 8 years. He enjoyed traveling around Europe for his job. He convinced his parents to travel to Germany, and Jack and a friend took them on a 2-week tour of Europe. After his retirement, Jack moved into a Senior Retirement Community in Mesa, AZ where he was very active in the activities of the community. He served as treasurer for many years.
Jack is survived by his brothers, Richard of Casper, WY, and Michael of Mesa, AZ, and his sisters, Myrna of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Anna Dean of Glendale, AZ, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Keith and sisters Lona Jean Aho and Linda Rae Wheeler.
His funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 1 at All Saints Catholic Church in Mesa, AZ with burial at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 2:30 PM on the same day. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in Jack’s name.
