Harold “Hal” T. Seelye, age 84, passed away at Mariposa Point Assisted Living in Gilbert, Arizona on June 17, 2017.
Harold was born February 5, 1933 in Bagley, MN to Lloyd and Lucy Seelye. Her grew up on the family farm and enjoyed his horses, snow skiing behind cars, and the cinnamon rolls his grandma made for him when he got home from school.
After high school, Harold enlisted in the US Navy where he worked as an aircraft electrician. He was stationed in Japan, Woodby Island, WA and Hutchinson KS. He married Phyllis Angstman in 1954. After discharge from the Navy, they moved to Red Wing, MN where he worked at Meyer Industries as an electrician.
Hal enjoyed target shooting at the Red Wing Rifle Club, camping, and driving at least 500 miles per day on all vacations. He built a pickup camper in the garage. He was able to fix anything and a repairperson was never needed at home. Hal enjoyed reading about history and watching the Fox News Channel. Last summer’s political conventions and the 2016 election were his favorite topic in years.
Hal and Phyllis began spending winters in Mesa, AZ in 2001 and moved full time in 2003. Hal is survived by daughter, Sandra (Jon) Barnes of Gilbert, AZ; his sister Mona of Fremont, CA; nieces; nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, on January 7, 2016. Hal and Phyllis were married for 62 years.
A joint memorial service will be held this coming September in Bagley, MN with burial in the Bagley Cemetery.
