Eva Doreen “Dina” Skousen passed away peacefully on March 9th, 2022. She was born November 22, 1945 in San Luis, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Lester and Eva Skousen. She was the first girl in their family and spent most of her youth in Colonia Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. Much of Dina’s life and joy was found playing sports. She was a natural athlete. Through all her high school years she played on the the Primera Fuerza team called “Las Adelitas” playing basketball traveling throughout Mexico. The team even won a National Title after which she got to meet the president of Mexico. She loved her life in Mexico and enjoyed riding horses, going to double-feature movies at the theater, traveling to El Paso to shop, participating in school plays and spending time with her many family and friends there.
Dina attended BYU majoring in Business Education. She continued participating in sports and participated in basketball, softball, tennis, table tennis, golf and volleyball traveling around to different schools representing BYU.
After BYU, Dina moved to Las Vegas where she worked for CPA offices and the Police Department. She found her way back to a traveling competitive softball team and played left field or first base for the Frontier Hotel Belles traveling around playing in different tournaments. She became the Sports Director for the Las Vegas Stake and enjoyed organizing tournaments for the different wards in the stake.
She later moved to Mesa, Arizona where she lived for the rest of her life. She continued working for different CPA firms and later finished her career working at CBW Appraisal Services.
Dina was the ultimate fur-mother and lived for and loved her animals above everything. Any animal that became her pet was lucky to have her loving and spoiling them. She had 2 cats and 4 dogs over the years. Dina loved her siblings and their children, never forgetting to call on everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. Dina was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many different callings and had a great love for the people in her ward.
Dina was a friend to so many who loved and appreciated her caring phone calls and acts of service. She was welcomed to heaven by a host of family, friends and pets waiting for her to arrive.
