Ernest Hunter Moore, III, passed into rest on June 29, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona.  Ernest was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Ernest Hunter Moore, Jr. and Bonnie Virginia Whitlock on March 2, 1951.  The family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to start a business where he met his sweetheart, Lana Day.  They were married August 18, 1972 and were blessed with four children.  Ernie enjoyed a very happy life filled with family, faith and friends.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, shooting, camping and scouting.  He was a superfan and enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sports and fine arts presentations.  Ernie’s life’s work was mostly centered around the foodservice industry.  He sold food and new and used restaurant equipment and retired from his own new and used restaurant equipment company, Moore Sales in 2016.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lana, his children Hunter Moore, Nathan Moore, Meredith Brook and Kyle Moore.  He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Moore Krietzburg and his grandchildren Mariah Moore Flake, Amber Moore, Cody Moore, Sterling Moore, Sabrie Moore, Cyrus Moore, Teigin Moore, Lana Brook and Jaynee Brook.

Funeral services are Wednesday, July 7, at 10 am at the LDS Church, 1911 N. 24th Street, Mesa, AZ, 85213.  Visitation will be held at Bunker’s University Chapel, 3529 E. University Drive, Mesa, AZ on Tuesday, July 6, from 6-8 pm in addition to Wednesday morning from 9-9:45 am at the church before the services.  In lieu of flowers donations to Pacific Coast Hospice, 2919 S. Ellsworth Road, Mesa, AZ, 85212 are recommended.

  • I am saddened to just now be learning of Ernie’s passing. He was a very good friend during our UNLV days. My sincerest condolences to his lovely wife, Lana, who was also my good friend.
