Delbert C. Carvell was born April 2, 1936 at Washburn, ND to Clayton & Ora Carvell. He passed away on May 28th in Mesa, Arizona. He graduated from Fargo High in 1954. Del joined the National Guard at age 17 and held 2 jobs during High School. Del’s career led him to many jobs before he found his niche. He was Civil Defense Director, State Health Director, then became a federal employee with the Center of Disease Control as a public health officer retiring after 35+ years.
He also retired from the National Guard with 20+ years and spent some time with the Air Force as a communications officer. Del was a giving and loving man, always helping others, and his friends were many.
He married Marlys Smith Haisley on December 28, 1991 at Washburn, ND. He leaves 2 children: Steve & Karen from a previous marriage & 4 grandchildren, his wife Marlys & 2 step-children: Larry (Kristy) Haisley, Merlyn (Carter) Vanderwal, 4 step grandchildren, and 4 step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 step brother.
Del was placed at rest in the Veterans Cemetery in ND.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 15th at Bunker’s University Chapel, 3529 E. University Dr. in Mesa, Arizona.
Marlys, We are so sorry to hear of Dels passing. We haven’t lived in Snellville for many years. We currently live in Tennessee. We have so many wonderful memories of life on Rosedale Creek Dr with you guys in many. Love you so, Stacey and Jeff
