About David J. Miller
David J. Miller, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, faithful service, and enduring love.
Dave was born on February 10, 1947, in Hartville, Ohio, to John and Amanda Miller. He was the sixth of twelve children, growing up in a large family that helped shape his steady, dependable character.
On November 23, 1968, Dave married the love of his life, Lisbeth Lynn Albert. Together, they would build a life centered on faith, family, and commitment. Shortly after their marriage, Dave answered his country’s call and was drafted into the United States Army on December 8, 1969. He served in Vietnam from June 1970 to July 1971 with the 298th Signal Company, 1st Brigade, 5th Infantry Division (Mechanized), stationed near Quang Tri along the Demilitarized Zone.
Serving as a Radio Relay and Carrier Attendant, Dave rose to the rank of Sergeant in just two years. His service was marked by skill, reliability, and leadership. He was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces, along with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Expert Marksmanship Badge (M-14).
After returning home, Dave built a life not defined by the hardships he endured, but by the relationships he faithfully nurtured—first and foremost, his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In 1979, after the birth of their four sons, Dave moved his family from Ohio to Chandler, Arizona, where he remained in the same home for the rest of his life. Though he initially worked as a block layer and planned to continue in that trade after relocating, God led him down a different path. He spent many years working as an electronics technician. Later, he transitioned careers and worked as a freeway inspector with the State of Arizona faithfully providing for his family in every season.
Beyond his work, Dave was a man deeply committed to his church. He served faithfully at Canton Baptist Temple in Ohio and then at Tri-City Baptist Church in Chandler, Arizona for the past 47 years. Whether in the sound booth or simply present whenever the church doors were open, he was a consistent and dependable presence. He was known for his easy smile, steady spirit, and the joy he brought to gatherings, especially around the family dinner table.
Dave and Lynn raised their four sons to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ, teaching them that salvation comes by faith alone through Christ’s death and resurrection, offering forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life. His devotion to Christ was evident in his 57 years of faithful marriage to Lynn, in the godly character he instilled in his sons, and in the deep love he showed to his 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Miller; and their four sons and daughters-in-law: Bryan and Debbie Miller of Chandler, AZ (3 grandchildren/spouses and 4 great-grandchildren), Jason and Kristen Miller of Gilbert, AZ (2 grandchildren), Todd and Katie Miller of Manila, Philippines (4 grandchildren), and Scott and Mimi Miller of Chandler, AZ (3 grandchildren).
Though a deep void is left in the hearts of his family, there is a quiet confidence rooted in the promises of God—that all who trust in Jesus Christ will see Dave again in eternity.
