Chester “Sonny” Eugene Penrod, 84, passed away peacefully May 26, 2020 in Queen Creek, Arizona. “Sonny” was born to Chester and Fern Penrod in 1936 in Pinyon, Arizona. One of four children he often spoke of the happy and adventurous childhood he experienced..
He met and married the love of his life, Velma Kay Jones August 30th 1954 and they were blessed with 67 wonderful years together. During that time they raised four children Robert (Shirley), Robbie-deceased (Cindy), Vonda (Robert) and Shannon (Terry).
“Sonny” was a hard worker and provided well for his growing family as a truck driver. He was well known and loved throughout the roping community, an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and most loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a strong testimony of his Savior, Jesus Christ, loved him and reflected that in everything he did. He leaves behind a growing legacy of 26 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren who will forever be grateful for the influence of their “hero” grandfather.
