Charlene Louise (Johnson) Lewis, daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Fuller) Johnson, passed away with family present at 60 years of age on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

She was born on June 4, 1956, a native of Arizona. She married Dennis J Lewis on February 12, 1977, and they had 4 beautiful children (Travis, Shauna, Derek, and Tanya).  Her life was one of service; she was always helping friends, neighbors, family, and even people she did not actually know.  She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in both the church and community when able. She was always looking to improve things around her and was willing to get a little dirty doing it.  From camping, to crafts, to home improvement, to serving others, she liked to keep busy.  She was a selfless daughter of God who loved family, friends, and her fellow man.  Her family, friends, and the world are all better for her having been in it.

Charlene is preceded in death by her father, Walter. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy; her two brothers, Roy and Kerry (Tamra Goff); her husband, Dennis; her children and their spouses, Travis and Cecille (Reyes), Derek and Amber (Jones), Shauna and Robert Holton, and Tanya.  She also leaves behind 7 beautiful and energetic grandchildren.

Her memorial services will be on Friday, August 26, 2016, at 9 a.m. at the City of Mesa Cemetery. A luncheon for close and extended family will be provided by the Relief Society of her ward at 11 a.m. at the LDS church building located at 1450 N. Recker Rd., Mesa, AZ 85205.

Charlene was our 3-year old twins Sunbeam teacher years ago in the original Red Mountain ward – Red Mountain Stake. I remember the Sunday she advised me, “You know the boys can literally climb walls with bare hands and feet.” She loved teaching them and we loved her. We will miss her dearly. Our love to all the family.

  • My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Carlene was a wonderful person. I enjoyed working with her. She always left me with a smile. Take care.

  • I’m very sorry for your loss. I wanted to offer you some comfort that I’ve found in the Bible. In John 11:25 Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” It’s my hope that you can draw comfort and strength from this promise that we can see our dead loved ones again.
