Our loving mother, Candace Ann Clemans, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2019 in Mesa, Arizona. Mom was a kind hearted and devoted mother and friend. She opened her heart and home to many and made sure that anyone who walked in the front door knew they were welcomed and they were safe. Mom showed her love through action. She may have had sharp opinions at times but, she was selfless and would go above and beyond for anyone. She was an adopted mother and grandmother to many of our friends growing up.
Mom was an X-Ray Technician at Banner Desert for 25 years. She was a respected mentor to coworkers and students. In her retirement years, Mom enjoyed gardening and working on small household projects (including remodeling her kitchen). She also enjoyed traveling to the beach, visiting family, and spending time with her fur babies at the dog park.
Candi was born on September 25, 1948 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to John and Carol Kernan. She is preceded in death by her father, John P. Kernan, and sister, Mary Sue Kernan. Candi is survived by her mother, Carol Kernan of Mesa, AZ; brother, Michael Kernan of Kanab, UT; her four children, Jennifer Phaneuf (Jim) of Chippewa Falls, WI, Karen Clemans of Anchorage, AK, Andy Clemans (Cassandra) of Bend, OR, and Sarah Clemans (Josh) of Mesa, AZ. She was very proud of and loved her ten grandchildren, five nephews, and numerous extended family members very much.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Maricopa County Animal Control, where Mom and Sarah rescued Wilson, Gus, Olive, and Jack.
I am so very sorry for your loss. What a tremendous legacy she leaves… to have loved so deeply…loved so many…and to have been so loved. My thoughts are with you in the days and months ahead.

So sorry for this sad news! I wanted to get to Arizona one day and spend a day with her! Goes to show, never put those things off! This is the 2nd friend that I missed out on, and cannot be called back! I love you all, and have many fun memories of all of you when you were little. If I can be of any help, let me know.
Love Auntie Gail
Such sad news! I enjoyed working with Candi for many years at Desert Sam/Banner Desert before moving to Prescott Valley. She was always a pleasure to be around with her ready smile and pleasant attitude! There are not enough like her in this world!

My heart goes out to you Jen!
So sorry to hear about Candy’s passing. We met through our work as technologists almost 28 yrs ago. Candy was not only an excellent technologist, but a great mentor to countless student technologists.
Over the years, Candy and I shared stories of our kids, her grandkids ( she got there before me!) her hobbies and our future retirements. She was a great lady and will be missed!❤️
As the wizard said: “A heart is not measured by how much we love, but by how much we are loved by others.” And Candi’s heart was as big as the moon and beyond. Love and wishes of peace and healing to my beautiful nieces and nephew as you begin your healing. Aunti Demi
I had the pleasure of being a student and coworker of Candi at Banner Desert. She had a heart of gold and was one of the best mentors that a student could ask for. She beamed when she talked about her family and dogs. Candi was an amazing lady and she will be missed.
So sorry for your loss! Your mom will be missed! She was a great lady with a big heart!
