Ashley Gaddie, née Stelter, 40, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father, surrounded by family, on June 29, 2024, after a tragic fall at home.
Ashley was born September 29, 1983, in Scottsdale, Arizona, as the youngest of four children where she very much enjoyed being the baby of the family. Ashley graduated from Mountain View High School in Mesa, Arizona in 2002, and went on to Chandler Gilbert Community College.
Ashley married her high school sweetheart, Matt, on April 25, 2003, in Mesa, Arizona. Ashley and Matt joyously welcomed four children, son Chase (18), daughter Jess (16), daughter Lindsay (14), and son Jett (12).
Ashley was dedicated to her family, with an amazing devotion to supporting each of her children’s unique skills and interests, whether it was sports, art, horse riding, baking, or creating fun Halloween costumes with her eternal sweetheart, Matt. Nothing was more important than family to Ashley which she demonstrated in infinite ways including her cherished Christmas traditions with hilarious family games, cookie baking, playing the piano for various occasions, sewing costumes, making the special signature dishes everyone looked forward to, and funny pranks like goofy photo collages.
Ashley was also devoted to her faith and was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Some of her callings included Primary President in her ward, serving in the Stake Primary Presidency, and playing the piano and organ in church.
Ashley had a lifelong passion for volleyball. She was an accomplished volleyball player, winning several championships domestically and internationally, which led to an inspiring opportunity to coach club volleyball for several years – which included the precious opportunity to coach her eldest daughter, Jess – as well as to coach the boys’ junior varsity and ultimately serve as head coach for the boys’ varsity team at Queen Creek High School.
Ashley was a beloved member of her family, church, and community, and will be greatly missed by her family, friends, neighbors and volleyball community.
Ashley is survived by her husband, Matt, and their four children, Chase, Jess, Lindsay, and Jett; her parents, Ronald and Annette Holt; her big brothers, Chris (Courtney) Buchanan, and Jason (Maren) Buchanan, and her big sissy, Jen (Chris) Spangler; her grandma, Marian Buchanan, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ashley was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Glen Oliver Gaddie; her grandparents, Dewey “Bert” and Virgene Farr; Joe and Rose Holt; and her grandpa, David Buchanan; as well as her uncles, Scott Ellsworth, and Donald Farr.
The viewing will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Bunkers Funeral Homes, 3529 E. University Dr, Mesa, AZ 85213.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2715 E. Ocotillo Rd. San Tan Valley, AZ 85140.

We were so heartbroken to hear this. Ashley was my ministering companion before we moved and I was lucky to have someone so full of energy and loving life. I can only imagine the hole she has left with her absence but so grateful for the plan of happiness and the influence she had on so many!! Our hearts and prayers are with you!
I taught Chase at school and quickly came to love Ashley in all our interactions. She has such a loving heart and her kids are her #1 priority. She loved them deeply.
May her family be surrounded by the loving arms of God during this difficult time. You are in my prayers.
I only met Ashley once or twice, but I remember how she emitted such a happy, positive personality. My most sincere thoughts and prayers are with you, and your children, Matt. Love you.
We send our love and prayers to all of the Gaddie family. Please know that our hearts go out to you Matt, your children, your mother, your brothers and sisters. We love you so dearly and were so saddened when we heard the news of your dear wife’s passing. May the Lord comfort you all and may angels attend you.

Coach Ashley’s dedication to the sport of Volleyball and all the students that played for her shined like a big bright like. It was very evident to me that whatever she or Matt did in life that they were deticated to it together.
My thoughts and prayers to all of her family, especially Matt and their children.
Matt, Carry on. May God bless you and your family forever. Ashley, well done. We look forward to your watchful care over your children. We are all coming to join you, our family’s, and our loving Savior who has saved us all. Rest now, and know that you will never be forgotten by us. We are family forever.
