Bruce Nolan Call, 70 passed away surrounded by his family on December 25, 2020. He was born February 9, 1950 in Burley, ID to Nolan B. and Irene (Weedop) Call. His family moved to Arizona when he was two. He graduated from Westwood High School in 1968.
Growing up on a dairy Bruce learned to work. He was a mason/foreman for Price and Olson. In 1974 he partnered with his brother Dennis at Ancon. Many of the water features they built can be found all over the valley … The Phoenician, Gainey Ranch, Val Vista Lakes, City Scape, Riverwalk, Goodyear Ballpark, Copper Sky Park, Mansel Carter Oasis Park, Gilbert Regional Park.
Bruce served in a variety of callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As Scout Master, he impacted the lives of many young men. He enjoyed camping, going to the sand dunes and work. His later years were filled making memories with his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending their ball games, recitals and competitions.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Marijane (Nielson); daughter Shantelle Ullery (Andy); son TJ (Liz); grandchildren Drew and Megan Ullery, Carson, Kenlee and Cooper Call; brothers Dennis, Wayne and Lyle Call; sisters Nolene Wood, Carma Lee Ellingson and LaNell Strobot.
Services will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1550 N. Val Vista Drive, Mesa, AZ, 85213. Visitation 9:00 a.m., Funeral service 10:00 a.m. There will be time to visit with the family on Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Gilbert Memorial Park, 2100 E. Queen Creek Rd., Gilbert, AZ, 85296.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your amazing husband and Dad.
Bruce was a wonderful Man and had a major impact in my life through scouting, family trips, and being there for me during a difficult time in my life. I will always be grateful that he shared a part of his life with me. He was a true example of living a Christ like life. He will be missed here on earth, but I hope you are all able to take comfort that we will see him again.

Was an extraordinary man, we were first and foremost friends, secondary working mates. We worked together on many projects through the last decade. Honest – kind – very talkative – very real. Not many guys left like him anymore. He always spoke about how much he loved being around his grand kids, going to miss you buddy. Mark

Very sorry to hear about Bruce…..He was my son’s Carson’s leader in the crosspoint ward and Carson thought the world of him. I lived in the Decatur house he built for 3 years what fun that was to see his craftsmanship. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Wish we were there to come pay tribute to him.
Bruce was a best friend to me. I knew Bruce for over 40 years and can not remember ever having a heated argument. Our lives were very parallel and we had some wonderfully soul to soul discussions. I will miss him but a part of him will live in me forever. I will carry his memory until I see him again.

My husband, Dennis Barney, was so impressed with him and his brother, Dennis, and their gifts to design and create amazing water features. I was a young man and started working for Price Masonry in 1973 and assigned to the Commercial crew which Bruce was the foreman. I grew up on a farm working hard, but this was harder and Bruce took me as his personal gopher and worked me on many jobs, he was fun to work with. I grouted many of a masonry wall with Bruce holding the grout hose which was no easy task so he would not fall off the wall. Through the years we kept in contact. I am sadden by his death he was a great friend . I appreciate his humor and tenacious work ethics. We will all miss him. Mark Freeman Mesa, Az
Bruce was my Uncle. I got to know Bruce through our annual Call reunion camping trips in the Arizona pines. I learned to appreciate Bruce’s ability to communicate what was on his mind, he was always direct and to the point.
Recently I had a pretty major structural problem with my house that required the installation of a very large and heavy beam. I knew who to call. Uncle Bruce was very willing to go out of his way, as was his son TJ to help install the beam. Uncle Bruce was a good example in helping others do what they could not do by themselves.
