Douglas Richard Bowers, born June 30th 1969, was called home Monday, August 3rd, 2020.
He was born to Louis James and Thelda Kay Bowers in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, hanging out at his cabin, and his yearly trips to Lake Powell. Doug’s wild and goofy personality attracted many people over the years. His good hearted nature led to many long lasting relationships that he valued til the day he died.
He served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Some of his favorite callings were in the Boy Scouts, Elder’s Quorum and as Young Men’s President.
He started his company from the ground up and was very successful. Building his own company allowed him to work alongside his boys, which was his ultimate goal and dream. But his proudest achievement was his family.
Doug’s first marriage blessed him with his first son, Matthew.
In 1996, he met and married the love of his life, Dina Dodenbier, they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple on August 29th, 1998. Together they had four additional boys.
Doug is survived by his wife Dina, his sons Matthew and his wife Becki and grandson Emmett; Dallin and his wife Morgan and soon to be granddaughter; Spencer, Blake and Hunter. His mother Thelda Bowers, Sister Susan and her husband Glenn; Brother Steven and his wife Marsha; Ginger and her husband Nate; Janet and her husband Chris; and his Brother Jared and his wife Kirstie. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis James Bowers III, and his brother Michael.
Doug leaves behind a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, his memory will not be forgotten.
Funeral services are Wednesday, August 12th, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church Building located at 6942 E. Brown Rd., Mesa, AZ 85207. There will be a Viewing on Tuesday evening, August 11th, 2020, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bunker’s Funeral Home located at 3529 E. University Dr. Mesa, AZ 85213. Due to social distancing restrictions, we are asking that church family and close acquaintances come at 6:00 pm. and work affiliated friends come at 7:00 pm. Thank you for understanding.
Due to Covid 19, attendance is only allowing a limited number to attend the Funeral Service, but will be broadcasted live. Details will be posted at a later date.

Doug was certainly devoted to you, and the kids. Thanks for inspiring him to become the best man he could be. He always had the potential, and you helped him become great.

Doug was a fantastic man who lived life wide open. I was privileged enough to be his friend and roommate early on, and lucky enough to get to work with him lately. He was remarkable and will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew him.

Some of my favorite memories involve Doug! I am privileged to have known him, and grateful for his generosity and crazy sense of humor. He was one in a gazillion.

I am sure this is an incredibly tough time and nothing I can say can take the pain away, but I will forever be grateful to all of the Bowers for the great memories I was able to make with you during my mission. I still have some videos of Brother Bowers doing goofy stuff with us like when we were in McDonalds for shakes after visits and he turned on some heavy metal for me to record and send home to my mom. I know the church is true and I know Brother Bowers is still teaching the gospel in the spirit world. The gospel truly is a blessing in our lives during this time and I wish you the best.

Doug is a great man and I was honored to be his friend. He is a great example of living life for his family and God. His legacy will live on, and his work and life continues beyond the veil.
This comes as a huge shock to me. Totally unexpected. Dina, at this time, I pray Heavenly Fathers blessing upon you and your family. Sad to think that the only time I met him was when Andrew Jensen pronounced you two man and wife. At least I had that privilege.

Working for Doug has been a blessing. He loved talking about his family so much and the fun things they recently did, had planned, or had done in the past together. I would try to get him to pause for a work related issue. He was different in good ways and the office won’t be the same without him. Will continue trying to help your family like you would have wanted.
Doug was always making jokes. I lived his quirky sarcastic if the didn’t pick on you means he didn’t like you personality! I remember having the best talks about the Gospel. How much he loved each boy like they were his favorite. He adored you. I loved seeing all of the adventures you got to go on. I’m so glad you all had that time to travel and the memories you all made. He was a better man because of you and the love he had for our Heavenly Father. Wish I could be there to hug you. We will catch up soon. I am always here for you.
Of all the tests we face, none hurts more than the death of a loved one. My heart and prayers are with the Bowers family at this time, for the loss of Doug on this earth. He is shining example, and will be missed.
Doug came into my life over thirty years ago thru my brother Greig Doty, to whom he was a good friend, and Doug brought love and joy to me and my family. We shared good adventures and awesome homecooked meals. He was a good friend in a time of need and the wisdom he shared helped mold my future to the better. I know his life will shine forever thru his family and you will enjoy everlasting blessings.

I met Doug in February of 1998 and over the next few years spent many hours together at the office in Salt lake and on several trips. Truly one of a kind and many good memories together. Dina I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you and the boys.
I met Doug in Marching Band at Bountiful High School. I didn’t know him well at all, but I’ll never forget that funny chubby guy who played the tuba! He was so much fun. Our mutual friend Gregg Lawrence told me about his death, and I wanted to tell you how sorry I am. It sounds like he was a remarkable person, and I wish I’d known him better.
I well miss Doug a lot he was a good uncle
