Nickolas Lewis Thomas, the thoughtful, tenderhearted, generous, loving light in our lives chose to end the battles he fought on this earth and return to the peace of that place from whence he came.  He now joins and is embraced by his younger brother, Kohl, and welcomed by his Grandpa Thomas, Grandma Clouse and uncle Scott Clouse.  Our grief, shock and pain are overwhelming as we attempt to muddle through our weighty emotions and to adjust to our futures without his physical presence with us.

Nick leaves behind the love of his life, Kara Kjorvestad, and their precious son, Easton Lewis Thomas.  Also caught in the wake of this tragedy are his parents, David and Terry (Clouse) Thomas, his brothers D. Brock and Kalvin E. Thomas, sisters in law Madison (Brown) and Ashlee (Skinner), his nephew Beaux David Thomas and his niece Scottie Kohl Thomas.  He will also be missed by his Grandma Thomas, Grandpa Clouse, 23 aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins and friends.

Nick was a fearless adventurer, keen observer, empathetic listener and loyal friend.  He was a deep thinker, a talented musician and a gifted horseman.  He loved spending time outdoors and was given the name Patient Fire Elk out on the Anasazi trail as a tribute to his temperament, competence and leadership.  His laugh was contagious and his humor infectious.  He was a caring son, a protective brother, and most importantly, a tender, nurturing father.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 20th, from 6-8 PM at the Val Vista Stake Center 1005 N. Voyager Dr., Gilbert.  Funeral services are Friday, February 21st, at 9:00 AM preceded by a visitation from 8-8:40 AM.  Arrangements provided by Bunkers Garden Chapel

Condolences

  • This is a heartbreaking tragedy and my love goes out to all of you for this great and painful loss. What a blessing that you have his beautiful son to remind you of him. He was able to experience more joy over the last two years than ever before, and for that I’m grateful. We may never fully understand why these things happen, but I know you are never alone and that the Lord will make this more of a blessing than the pain you are bearing now. I’m so very sorry for this very difficult time. Prayers for comfort and peace. With love, Aunt Sally and Uncle Tim.

  • My dear cousins, we are heartbroken for the loss of darling Nick. Our deepest condolences go out to you. Words cannot console you at this time, but know you and he are loved by us, and loved perfectly by our Father and our Savior. You’re all in our prayers.
Xoxo Julie and Steve and family

    Dear Dave and Terry,
We have no words to express our sorrow for your family. Our hearts are just breaking for you all. We remember Nick as a smiling, sweet, energetic kid and it sounds like he was equally loveable as a man. He will be missed sorely.
Sending our most tender and heartfelt prayers and love to you all.
    With love,
    Gordon and Paulette Hedrick

  • I personally did not know Nickolas but, my thoughts are with the family. I hope you can find comfort where I too have found in the past, 2 Cor. 1:4 “Who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trail with the comfort that we receive from God.”

  • Dave and Terry,
Y’all were the best and most amazing parents. I miss every moment I had with y’all growing up. I will cherish ever moment. I am so sorry for your loss and I am heart broken over it all. I love each and everyone one of you. Nick was one of the best dudes and friends I have ever had.

  • Nick always had a more caring heart than most and the courage to move on it. He protected my brother and I expecting nothing in return. When I knew him he would speak lovely of his family and want to impress them and all he loved. It shatters too many hearts that he is no longer physically here. But I know he is peaceful and whole with the Lord. All has been forgiven through Jesus and Nick is with Him. He can fully care for and bless his loved ones in his most glorified form. We all mourn with you for this terrible loss we will continue to pray that his light shines and watches over his family as he righteously awaits with the Lord.

    Dave and Terry,
Nick and I were roommates in Canada and we worked together often. I would not be who I am today if not were for what your son taught me. He helped me smile even on my darkest days. I can barely swallow this. I will miss Nick greatly and will pray for you and your family. Please let me know if you need anything.
    Love, Cameron Hutchins

Heartfelt prayers and immense love are all I have to offer….thank goodness Christ offers so much more! May you feel wrapped in HIS arms as you navigate the days and years ahead. • Carol Haws (Hatch)

Dear Terry and Dave, I can’t express in words how heart broken I am for your family. My thoughts, love and prayers are with all of you at this time. Shaney especially was saddened by the news of Nicks passing. Living in Ohio made it impossible for her to come to his memorial but she counted him as one of her treasured friends; and also for you Terry, as being a mentor for good in her teenage years. Your family will continue to be in our hearts and thoughts as we mourn this wonderful, loving son of yours. Sincerely with love, Carol, Shaney and Greg Lords.

  • Dear David & Terry: My heart aches for you. Please know that there are mighty prayers for you and your entire family from up in the pacific northwest. We love you. – John
