Mark Arlo Davidson, passed away, peacefully in his sleep, from Congestive Heart Failure at his home in Gilbert, Arizona on March 26, 2017, at the age of 44. He was born in Provo, Utah on November 12, 1972 to J. Stephen and Judith Davidson and was the third out of eight children. When Mark was a baby the family moved to San Diego, then Fairfield, and finally settled down in Vacaville, CA in 1975 where they stayed until the children were grown. Mark graduated from Vacaville High School in 1990 and soon after served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints In San Antonio, Texas (Spanish Speaking) from 1991-1993. As a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mark willingly served as a volunteer in many different capacities, including countless years in the church choir , ward mission leader and as a Sunday school teacher. His faith was strong and his heart was big. If there is one word that best describes him it is : Passionate. From a young age, one of Mark’s greatest passions was music. Starting at the age of 11 through age 18, Mark sang baritone then later bass, in his family barbershop quartet (The Davidson Forever Family), with his dad and two sisters, Wendy and Lisa. They performed opening day at Marine World Africa U.S.A. (now Six Flags Discovery Kingdom) in Vallejo, California and continued performing there for seven years. He continued this singing tradition, started by his father, by singing bass in many different barbershop quartets and choruses throughout his life in the different places he has lived.

Mark married “The Love of his life” Bridget Ann King, on January 11, 1997 in the Portland, Oregon LDS temple. He and Bridget welcomed three beautiful children into their lives in October 2008: Monique (11), Marcus (9), and Michael (8), and anxiously anticipated when they would permanently become a part of their family. Soon after, their family was complete with the birth of Darrigan in November of 2009. The three oldest children were officially adopted in November of 2010 and then the pinnacle came when they were sealed together forever as a family in the Sacramento LDS temple in February 2011. His family was his EVERYTHING!!!

Mark had a love of driving and made it his career of choice. The majority of his career was spent driving for Brinks Armoured Trucks. He also enjoyed driving limousines and for Uber. The last few years of his life, he became extremely passionate about the dangers of texting and driving. He founded and was CEO of the non-profit organization, DRIVE CELL FREE, and spent much of his time traveling and educating others on the risks of distracted driving.

Life changed drastically for Mark and his family, when he was diagnosed with familial Cardiomyopathy in November of 2014. He soon was unable to work and his quality of life deteriorated progressively until it was recommended that he get evaluated for a heart transplant. Unfortunately, due to health insurance issues, he was unable to receive a heart transplant in time.

Mark is survived by: wife Bridget Ann King Davidson; 4 children: Monique Ann (Oliver) Ames; Marcus Anthony, Michael Arlo, and Darrigan King Davidson; 1 Brother and 6 sisters; Angela (Evan) Weinzinger, Wendy (Russ) Gentry, Lisa Davidson Maslen, Melia Davidson Peterson, Char (Oliver) Tanner, Trent (Emily) Davidson, and Mary(Justin) Prillwitz; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: J. Stephen and Judith Davidson.

We were friends in high school. Good guy, so young! Grateful for the gospel and an understanding of the eternal. Prayers for all his loved ones.

  • I’d only met Mark a handful of times, but I had the honor of knowing Bridget. Bridget, my heart aches for you and your family for your loss. I will always remember admiring the love you shared with Mark, how deeply and passionately you love being his wife, and his love. I still say some of the same things to my Love that I heard you say to Mark while we worked together: “Love you so much I want to squeeze your head off” (or sometimes it was arm), “Love you so much I want to just put you in my pocket and keep you right there forever.” Yours is a love that spans the multiverse, and exists beyond Time and Realm. You two will find each other again, and while your work is not yet done here, Time here is but a blink to God. May you find comfort and hope in the arms and eyes of your family, and your Father, and may you find peace and joy in the warmth of Love. My heart aches for the Love with which you have had to part. Know that I pray for you. Love you.

  • We shared do many wonderful and fun times singing and even though we lived many miles apart we always remained in touch. Rest in peace, once again ehole with a healthy heart my friend. My thoughts, love and prayers go to out to all of you as you lay to rest this amazing brother, father, husband and friend. Love, Ron

I am so grateful that I was privileged to know Mark. He was such a great supporter of our ward choir, and we were all blessed by his enthusiasm, as well as his beautiful bass voice. It was so great talk with him and discuss music. His zest for life and love for people was evident in everything he did or said. He will be greatly missed, but I know that the Heaven’s angel choir will swell in beauty with his beautiful voice.

    I am praying for the peace that only the Savior can provide for you and your family, sweet Bridget. You are dearly loved!!! {Hugs!}

  • You and your family were one of the fist to welcome us to Arizona I will never forget that. Godspeed Mark RIP

  • Mark and the Davidson Forever Family Quartet have a special place in my heart since we first met back when I sang with Razzle Dazzle quartet. Those memories we shared together as an extended family are just as vivid today as they were back in the late 1980’s. My condolences to Mark’s wife, Bridget, and their beautiful 4 children as well as the rest of the Davidson family.
Who can say if I’ve been
    Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
    Changed for the better
    And because I knew you…
    Because I knew you…
    Because I knew you…
I have been changed for good…

My grandson, Oliver, married Monique. We only met Mark twice, but marveled at his love for each of his four children. He is watching over them from that special place reserved for Father’s who had to leave this life before their work could be completed.

  • Shortly after the Davidson’s moved into our neighborhood, I ran into Mark and Darrigan at the pool. I knew them only as “Bridget’s husband & son” and did not know anything about his heart condition. I was pregnant and nearing my due date with my daughter and wanted nothing more than to soak my swollen ankles on the steps and sit in the shade while my rambunctious boys wore off some energy in the pool. Darrigan befriended my boys and soon the three of them were swarming all over poor Mark. He played catch with them and tossed them in the pool and they were squealing and laughing and having so much fun. When it was time for us to leave I thanked him for entertaining my boys, and it was then that he explained about his heart condition. I am so very grateful for the kind service he provided to me that day as a worn out uncomfortable pregnant lady, especially knowing that it cost him 3x as much energy and I have no doubt he was super drained that afternoon. He is such a kind spirit. I love you Bridget and Darrigan!

  • I am so saddened by Mark’s passing, yet so grateful for having been blessed to be his friend for so many years. I love you ❤️

  • Brent Knudsen

I am truly touched as I read the tributes to Mark, his wife and children. Mark, you will be sorely missed. I pray especially for your wife Bridget and your children. Your names are in the prayer rolls of the temple.

  • To the Davidson family, I’m deeply sorry for your loss. It’s my hope that you can draw comfort from God’s promises in the Bible. Revelation 21:3, 4 and Acts 24:15 show that there will soon be a time when there will be no more sickness, or death, and we can see the loved ones we’ve lost to death again. May these thoughts bring you strength and hope as you cherish the memories of your loved one.
