Mark Allen Brown

Mark was born April 21, 1970 in Fresno California, and passed away October 4, 2014, in Mesa Arizona surrounded by his family.

Mark is survived by his parents, Fon and Joy Brown, wife Amy McCabe Brown, and children, Brennan – serving an LDS mission in Stockholm, Jessica and Mallory, siblings Troy, Jeff, Fon R, Marcy, Christiaan, and Matthew, and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved.

Mark was born in Fresno California and spent the first 10 years of his life there and in the Atascadero area. He and his brother Matthew later came to live with the Brown family in Cache Valley, Utah, where they found a stable and loving home. The family moved to Mesa in 1985, where Mark graduated from Mountain View High School.  He was called as an LDS missionary to the Austria Vienna mission, and during his time there was transferred to Germany after the Berlin Wall came down.

He worked throughout his life in accounting and finance in the Healthcare Industry, most recently with the Banner Corporation. He loved to sing with his family, and found great joy in supporting them in their musical endeavors.  He held many positions of leadership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but his most favorite calling was Primary pianist – spending time with the children and playing the piano.  He most recently served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher. Mark made sure that in every lesson he taught he invited the participants to consider how the doctrine might be applied in their own lives. Throughout his battle with cancer he continued to teach, often reflecting on the blessings that he received, despite the struggles.  He fought a courageous battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma for two and a half years, always believing in “Faith, Not Fear.”

Visitation is Friday, October 10, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, AZ. Funeral services are Monday, October 13, 2014 at 10 AM, preceded by a visitation at 9 AM, at the LDS Taylor Park Ward, 825 S. 32nd Street, Mesa, AZ. Interment at City of Mesa Cemetery.

My condolences to Amy, Brennan, Jessica, Malory, Matt and all the Brown family. Mark was always such a kind and caring person. He always had a smile on his face and knew how to make people feel better. I remember when we were kids he would always take care of his brother Matt. His positive outlook on life and strong faith is what kept him going. Mark is loved by so many and his smile will live on forever. I am so grateful for his loving and devoted wife and kids who helped him fight this battle. My prayers continue to be with you and may the lord provide you with comfort each and everyday knowing that he is in a better place and free form sickness. I love you all!!! RIP my sweet cousin!!!

  • Mark was a very sweet supportive person, offering prayers and giving the right kind of verbal support when it was needed during the struggle and fight and eventual loss of my nephew. Mark was always positive, always and also thankful. My prayers and thoughts are with you, Amy, and your beautiful children that Mark was so proud of. He is now where my sister, niece and nephew are and they are in celebration of their life there, because there is no pain, suffering or mortal cares. They are just a moment away from us, with their arms outstretched. You will feel his love by you every minute, because nothing can destroy love, not even death.

  • Words cannot express the sympathy and love I have for all of my sweet cousins as we are mourning the loss of one. Brown family reunions were always the highlight of my childhood. I am quite a bit younger than Uncle Fon and Aunt Joy’s kids (in fact, are more around the ages of their grandchildren). Mark and Matt were always so willing to play with me when we’d have our Fourth of July celebrations at Grandma Brown’s. I still vividly remember holding onto Mark’s hands, walking up his legs and flipping over back onto my feet. I did that countless times as a little five or six year old and he never seemed to be bugged by it. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Even though I haven’t seen most of my Brown cousins since the passing of Grandma Brown back in 1990, but I still think of them often. I only wish that I someday have the chance to meet my cousin’s wives and kids. Love to you all!

  • To Mr. Brown’s family, I’m very sorry for your loss. It’s my hope that you can draw comfort and strength from Jehovah God’s promises in the Bible at Revelation 21: 3, 4 and John 5: 28, 29. He promises that there will soon be a time when there will be no more pain, sickness, or death, and we will see the loved ones we have lost again. Please accept my deepest condolences.
