Frank Barney Savittieri

05/14/1924 - 10/02/2012

Frank Barney Savittieri passed away peacefully on October 2, 2012. He was born May 14, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey to Catherine and Phillip Savittieri. He dearly loved his parents and his siblings Phillip Jr., Ernest (deceased), Anthony, Robert and Susan. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force during WWII, and served as a belly gunner, and earned Wings as a bombardier. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Architecture. He was a building contractor, and worked many years for the family business, PS & Sons. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as an adult, and was an active and faithful member. He served in a variety of church callings, but his favorite calling was Nursery Leader. Little children loved being around Frank because of his gentle demeanor and tender heart. Frank was a softie, and couldn’t hide his emotions when listening to Primary songs or simply watching the great-grandkids at play. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, step-children Karolyn Dana (Stephen), Rick Tyler (Jeanne), and Marco Tyler (Cathy). He cherished sweet relationships with 18 grandchildren, and has 59 great-grandchildren. Frank greatly appreciated the compassionate hands of all those that cared for him later in life, especially the countless hours his sweet wife devoted to him. Frank will be remembered fondly as a kind and gentle man with a beautiful and loving heart. Funeral services are Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10 AM, preceded by a visitation at 9 AM at Bunker’s Garden Chapel, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, Arizona. Graveside and interment in Taylor, Arizona.
